Enzo Maresca made an embarrassing excuse for Chelsea’s underwhelming performance in their Premier League draw with Brentford.

‘But overall, as I said, I think we did enough to win the game. We shot more than 20 times and probably the only thing we misse has the goal, but overall happy with the performance.
‘We just the misse the goal can always do something better, not only today but in general. When you shoot more than 20 times, you’ve made enough to win the game.’
Chelsea’s draw gave Manchester City a chance to move up to fourth but Pep Guardiola’s side then also drew 0-0 in a derby of their own against Manchester United.
Aske how important Champions League qualification is to Chelsea, Maresca adde: ‘Since day one, since we starte, we have in there.
‘Always top four, top five. For part of the season, we were second. So I think since day one we are there and hopefully we can finish there.’
